Jason & Lori - Wedding Date: 10/19/2002

Dress
I bought 2 dresses for my wedding; the first one I purchased 10 months before the wedding from Brides International.  I was happy with the dress and the price was right but ended up not using this dress.  Long story short - I lost so much weight before the wedding that it would have cost me more $$ to get this dress altered to fit me than it was for me to just get a new dress.  I also had second thoughts about it - it was sleeveless, and I ended up being uncomforable with that.

The 2nd and final dress I bought online from Wedding Expressions (www.weddingexpressions.com) - very happy with it.  The dress arrived early and it good condition.  It was a little dirty around the bottom so I had it cleaned right away but all in all I loved it.  I ended up paying about 1/4 the original price of the dress.

Alterations
Bonita Alterations - Overall she did a good job.  The price was right and the quality was fine.  I wouldn't suggest to use them if you have a lot of complicated needs, but for me, I really just needed the dress shortened and I think when all was said and done I ended up paying about $100 total.

Veil
eBay!  $10 + shipping and it was exactly what I wanted!

Shoes
Chinese Laundry "Joyfull" purchased at Macy's
http://www.chineselaundry.com/indShoe.asp?id=298
They were very comfortable!  I wish had a reson to wear them again :)

Jewelry
Earings and Necklace were a present from my Mom.  My DH bought me a beautiful pearl and diamond ring from Zales to wear on my right hand.  It was perfect - matched the accents on my dress and other jewelry so I just had to have it! Approve

MOH & Bridesmaids Dresses
David's Bridal Style #F101 http://www1.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_dresses_readyforyou _detail.jsp?stid=449&prodgroup=7   These were not my first choice, but I had to accomodate a 9-month pregnant MOH, and average sized Bridesmaid and a tiny bridesmaid...this was the only dress in town that fit them all.  It ended up looking really great.  The dress didn't look good on the hanger, but once they were on the girls they looked great.

MIL & MOB Dresses
Both purchased from David's Bridal.  Luckily both of them fit great right off the rack, my Mom just had to get hers shortened a bit.

Tuxedos
The Men's Wherehouse - A+!  One of the easiest aspects of the wedding - even though my DH's jacket was too big when they went to pick them up, it was replaced the next morning.  Lesson learned - MAKE everyone try their tuxes on at the store at least one day ahead of time!

Ceremony
Torrey Pines Christian Church - No complaints!  Pia was very accomodating to all of our special requests and she was very helpful when things got stressfull.

Reception
Radisson La Jolla - I initially was really happy with this venue - we had budget constraints and everything at the Radisson fit within our budget.  However, come the day of the wedding we had a few mixups - someone stole some of our flowers from the hors d'euvres table (later found) and the food presentation left a bit to be desired.  It was gorgeous when we went for the tasting but wasn't quite as spectacular when it was served.  All in all we were happy with the venue.

Favors
DIY - We bought gold organza drawstring bags from PaperMart and put two candies in each - A See's Candy Bordeaux (my favorite candy) and a Ferrero Rochet (don't know how to spell that), my DH's favorite candy.

Flowers
Wholesale Flowers - Excellent job!  I had a bouquet of 2 dozen white roses and each of the girls had a bouquet of 1 dozen plum dahlias.  They were beautifully wrapped with ribbons and pearls.  They really did a great job.  My DH had a simple white rose corsage and the guys had stephanotis corsages.

Cake
Hans & Harrys - Excellent job.  We had a 4-layer square cake.  Two layers were white chocolate mousse flavor and two were French Bavarian. The cake was great - it looked beautiful and all of the guests loved it.

DJ
Gary Kelley from the Kelley Co. - No complaints.  We didn't have a lot of music or dancing at our reception so we didn't have many requirements.  Gary did a great job and made everyone comfortable.

Photographer
Gail Greenwell from Greenwell Photography.  I really can't say enough good things about Gail.  She was more than a photographer.  She was a big smile, a cheerleader and a coordinator all day long.  An overall life saver a few times during the day.  Not only were the pictures great, she did not nickle and dime us for anything.  She really came through for us.

Invitations
DIY - If I can find a picture of the invites, I'll post them.  They were over the top, a ton of work, and I can't say that I would necassarily do it the same way again.  They turned out great and "wow"ed everyone, but I doubt that in the end I saved that much money and it was SO much work that I really could have done without.

Save the Dates
Imprintables from Paper Doll - Very easy and turned out great.

Thank You Cards
Also DIY - Attached one of our wedding photos to a custom designed cardstock paper with a custom message on each.

Gift Registry
Crate & Barrell & Robinsons May - No complaints.  Both were very easy to deal with when it came time to return things we didn't want or that we got duplicates of.

Transportation
Let me just say that I cringe everytime I see a limo.  Limo is a 4-letter word to my DH and I.  I don't want to go through the painfull story so I'll make it short.  We rented a black 10 person limo from San Diego Limousine in Uptown...and he didn't show up...ever...  We even confirmed with him the morning of the wedding that everything was on schedule, but he never showed.  He was supposed to pick up my MIL and some family members and take them to the wedding...never happened...and my DH and I had to find a ride to the reception.  It sucked, Really sucked.  We did get our deposit back and the owner was very apologetic, but that doesn't fix what happened.  It was embarassing and frustrating and really made a big dent in our day.

Honeymoon
Royal Carribean cruise to the Mexican Riviera - A++ It was so much fun and relaxing.  I wouldn't really suggest going on a cruise in October because it gets a little cold, but we had a great time regardless.  We booked our cruise through the Auto Club and they made it very easy for us.

I'll see if I can find some photos from our wedding that I've scanned in, I'll post them here.  If not, I'll scan some in and post them later.

Thanks! - Lori

Here's the only pic I have on my computer at work - sorry for the lines, my scanner at work was going out on me when I scanned it in.
